Starred’s Liza Thorn’s ode to Damien Echols, one of the West Memphis Three: the trio of teenagers convicted in 1994 of three satanic ritual murders of children. Echols sat on Death Row for 18 years until new DNA evidence finally emerged. Damien received an acquittal in 2011 (A new documentary, West of Memphis, explores the case). Aaron Brown of Focus Creeps directs this slowly-paced video, splicing haunting archival footage from Echols’ trial and imprisonment with shots of Thorn in bed.
